February 2022: List of Important Days & Events with Themes
1. 1st Feb - Indian Coast Guard Day
Purpose - On 2021, it celebrated its 46th Raising Day.
The interim Indian Coast Guard first came into being on 1st February 1977.
It is the 4th largest coast guard in the world and comes under the Ministry of Defence.

2. 2nd Feb - World Wetlands Day
Purpose - This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2nd Feb 1971 in Ramsar, Iran.
The day was first celebrated in 1997.
Theme 2022 - " Wetlands Action for People & Nature"
3. 4th Feb - World Cancer Day
Purpose - Celebrated by WHO to aware people of the disease, cancer, and how
to cure it.
Theme 2022 - "Close the Care Gap".
4. 4th Feb - International Day of Human Fraternity
Purpose - To raise awareness about different cultures & religions, or beliefs and the promotion of tolerance.
5. 6th Feb - International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation
Purpose - To spread awareness and educate people about the consequences and problems that females faced due to genital mutilation.
In 2012, the UN General Assembly designated Feb 6th as the International Day of Zero
Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.
The main aim of the day is to end female genital mutilation in one decade.
5. 8th Feb - Safe Internet Day
It is observed on the 2nd day of the 2nd Week of February.
Purpose - To make the internet a safer and better place for all, mainly for children and young people.
6. 10th Feb - National Deworming Day
Purpose - To eradicate intestinal worms also known as Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH), among children in the age group of 1-19 years.
It was an initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI
to make every child worm free in the country.
7. 11th Feb - International Day of Women & Girls in Science
Purpose - To recognize the role of women and girls in science.
8. 12th Feb - National Productivity Day/ National Productivity Week
Purpose - To promote productivity culture in India.
It is celebrated by the National Productivity Council (NPC) under the ministry of commerce & industry.
National Productivity Week is celebrated between 12-18 feb.
Theme 2022 - "Self Reliance through Productivity".
9. 12th Feb - Lincoln Day/ Birth Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln
He was the most popular president in the U.S.
10. 13th Feb - Sarojini Naidu Birth Anniversary/National Women's Day
She was the first Indian woman President of the Indian National Congress.
She was also the first woman governor of the U.P (Uttar Pradesh earlier known as United Province).
11. 13th Feb - World Radio Day
Theme 2022 - "Radio & Trust"
12. 14th Feb - Saint Valentine's Day
13. 20th Feb - World Day of Social Justice
Purpose - To encourage people to see how social justice affects poverty eradication.
To achieve full employement and support for social integration.
Theme 2022 - "Achieving Social Justice through formal employment"
14. 21st Feb - International Mother Language Day
Purpose - To aware of the diversity of the language and its variety.
This day promotes the awareness of language and cultural diversity
across the world.
On November 1999, it was first announced by UNESCO.

15. 22nd Feb - World Scout Day
Purpose - Birth Anniversary of Lord Baden Powell, the pioneer of Scouting.
16. 24th Feb - Central Excise Day
Purpose - To encourage the employees of the excise department to carry out the central excise duty in a better way to prevent corruption in the manufacturing business out the best possible exercise services in India.
17. 25th Feb - 3rd Anniversary of National War Memorial
18. 26th Feb - Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti
He was born on dashmi of the Krishna Paksh of Falgun (according to hindu calender) which comes on 26th Feb this year.
He was the founder of Arya Samaj.
19. 27th Feb - World NGO Day
Purpose - To recognize, celebrate & honour all non-governmental & non-profit organisations.
20. 27th Feb - National Protein Day
Purpose - To raise awareness about protein deficiency and encourage people to include macronutrient in their diet.
Theme 2022 - Food Futurism
22. 28th Feb - National Science Day
Purpose - To marks the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman.
He got the Nobel Prize in Physics for the Raman Effect in 1930.
Theme 2022 - "Integrated Approach in S&T for Sustainable Future".
