1. 1st May- International Labour's Day/ Labour Day/ May Day
Purpose - To pay tribute to the contribution of workers. In India, Labour Day is referred to as the Antarrashtriya Shramik Diwas or Kamgar Din
Theme - "The World of work & the #COVID19 Pandemic: securing workers in the preservation of the achievements within companies".
2. 2nd May - World Laughter Day
Purpose - To raise awareness about the importance of laughter and its many healing benefits.
3. 3rd May - World Press Freedom Day
Purpose - To Celebrate the fundamental principles of Press Freedom.
Theme - " Information as a Public Good".
4. 4th May - Coal Miners Day
Purpose - To highlight the situations of people working in the coal mines.
5. 4th May - World Asthma Day
Purpose - To improve asthma awareness and care around the world.
Theme - "Uncovering Asthama Misconceptions".
6. 4th May - International Firefighters Day
Purpose - To recognize and honour the sacrifices that firefighter's make to ensure that their communities and environment are as safe as possible.
7. 5th May - World Athletics Day
Purpose - To increase awareness about athletics and to encourage the youth to take up sports.
8. 8th May - World Thalassemia Day
Purpose - To increase awareness about thalassemia and help patients lead a normal life despite the burden of their disease.
Theme - ' Addressing Health Inequalities Across the Global Thalassemia Community".
9. 8th May - World Red Cross Day
Purpose - To celebrate the birth anniversary of the Red Cross founder Henry Dunant.
He was the recipient of the first Novel Peace Prize.

10. 9th May - Mother's Day
Purpose - Honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, & the influence of mothers in society
Theme - ' Keep Mothers and Newborns safe from coronavirus'.
11. 11th May - National Technology Day
Purpose - To highlight the achievements of engineers and scientists in the field of
Technology and science.
This day marks the anniversary of the Pokhran Nuclear Test of 1998.
Theme - "Science & Technology for a sustainable future".
12. 12th May - International Nurses Day
Purpose - To raise awareness of the important role nurses play in the society.
Theme - "Nurses: A Voice to lead - A Vision for future healthcare".
13. 15th May - International Day of Families
Purpose - To spread awareness about the benefits of the family system to mass.
Theme - " Families & New Technologies".
14. 17th May - World Telecommunication Day
Purpose - To bridge the digital divide and to bring change to societies and economies through the use of the Internet & other technologies.
Theme - "Accelerating Digital Transformation in challenging times".
15. 17th May - World Hypertension Day
Purpose - To promote public awareness of increasing high blood pressure.
Theme - " Measure your blood pressure, Control it, Live longer ".
16. 18th May - International Museum Day
Purpose - To raise awareness among people about the museums
Theme - " The Future of Museums: Recover & Reimagine".
17. 18th May - World AIDS Vaccine Day
Purpose - To promote the continued urgent need for a vaccine to prevent HIV Infection & AIDS.
18. 21st May - National Endangered Species Day
Purpose - To protect the endangered species of our planet

19. 21st May - National Anti - Terrorism Day
Purpose - To mitigate terrorism

23. 29th May - International Day of UN Peace Keepers
Purpose - To pay tribute to all the men & women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations PeaceKeeping Operations & to honor those have lost their lives in the cause of peace.
Theme - " The road to a lasting peace: Leveraging the power of youth for security".
24. 31st May - World No Tobacco Day
Purpose - To spread awareness about the danger of using tobacco
Theme - 'Quit Tobacco to be a winner'.
