MARCH 2021 IMPORTANT DAYS & EVENTS
1. 1st March - Zero Discrimination Day
Purpose - To raise awareness against discrimination which often happen because of caste, religion, gender, color, weight, height, etc.
Theme - "Zero Discrimination against Women & Girls".
2. 1st March - World Civil Defence Day
Purpose - To help people know about the importance of civil protection.
Theme 2021 - "Civil Defence & First Aider in every home".
3. 3rd March - World Wildlife Day
Purpose - To celebrate and raise awareness of the world's wild fauna and flora and recognized the important role of CITES in ensuring that international trade does not threaten the survival of species.
Theme - "Forests & Livelihoods: Sustaining People & Planet".
4. 3rd March - World Hearing Day
Purpose - To raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss & promote ear & hearing care across the world.
Theme - "Hearing Care for All! Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate".
5. 4th March - National Security Day or Rashtriya Suraksha Diwas
Purpose - To honour the work of Indian Security Forces which includes every security personnel, policemen, paramilitary forces, guards, commandos, army officers etc.
6. 4th March - National Safety Day
Purpose - To raise awareness about the safety measures to avoid mishaps & accidents due to lack of awareness
Theme - "Sadak Surakhsa"/ "Road Safety".
7. 7th March - Jan Aushadhi Diwas
Purpose - To provide further impetus and create awareness about the use of generic medicines.
Theme - "Seva Bhi - Rozgar Bhi".
8. 8th March - International Women's Day
Purpose - To reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage & determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries & communities.
Theme - "Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world".
9. 10th March - No Smoking Day
Purpose - To make people aware of the ill effects of nicotine & cancer caused by this habit.
Theme - "Quitting Smoking doesn't have to be stressful".
10. 10th March - CISF (Central Industrial Security Forces) Raising Day
Purpose - On this day CISF formed in 1969 by an act of Parliament.

11. 11th March - World Kidney Day
Purpose - To raise awareness about the importance of our kidneys to overall health.
It is observed annually on the 2nd Thursday in March.
The World Kidney Day Steering Committee has declared the year 2021 the year of " Living well with Kidney disease".
12. 14th March - International day of Mathematics
Purpose - It is also known as Pi Day.
International Mathematical Union (IMU) has led the project to have UNESCO proclaim March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics.
Theme - "Mathematics for a better world".
13. 15th March - World Consumer Right's Day
Purpose - Raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs.
Theme - "Tackle Plastic Pollution".
14. 16th March - National Vaccination Day/ National Immunisation Day
Purpose - To raise awareness on vaccination all over India.
It was observed on March 16, 1995.
15. 18th March - Global Recycling Day
Purpose - To promote recycling globally
Theme - #RecyclingHeroes.
16. 18th March - Ordnance Factories Day
Facts - OFD is the largest defense equipment manufacturer in India, 2nd in Asia & 37th in the World.
OFD is referred to as the "Fourth Arm of Defence" & "Force Behind the Armed Forces" of India.
Department - Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
17. 20th March - International Day of Happiness
Purpose - Recognizing the relevance of Happiness & well-being as universal goals.
Theme - Happiness for All, Together.
18. 20th March - World Sparrow Day
Purpose - To bring awareness about the conservation of sparrows in the world and the decreasing number of sparrows.
Theme - I Love Sparrows.
19. 21st March - International Day of Forests
Purpose - To celebrate all types of forests & raise awareness of sustainable management, conservation & sustainable development for the benefit of current & future generations.
Theme - "Forest Restoration: A path to recovery & well-being".
20. 21st March - International Day for the elimination of the Racial Discrimination
Purpose - To foster a global culture of tolerance, equality, and anti-dicsrimination and calls on each and everyone of us to stand up against racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes.
Theme - "Youth Standing up against Racism".
21. 21st March - World Down Syndrome Day
Purpose - To raise awareness about down syndrome.Down Syndrome occurs when a person has three rather than two copies of 21st chromosome.
Theme - #Connect.
22. 22nd March - World Water Day
Purpose - To highlight the importance of freshwater.
Theme - "Valuing Water".
23. 23rd March - World Meteorological Day
Purpose - To campaign for weather & climate safety.
Theme - "The Ocean, Our Climate & Weather".
24. 24th March - World TB Day
Purpose - To make people hear about Tuberculosis, its impact and treatments.
Theme - "The Clock is Ticking".
25. 25th March - Rememberance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade
Purpose - To honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the brutal slavery system.
Theme - "Ending Slavery's Legacy of Racism: A Global Imperative for Justice".
26. 27th March - World Theatre Day
Purpose - To raise the importance of theater arts.
27. 27th March - Earth Hour
Purpose - A symbolic gesture to their commitment to preserving our planet.
Theme - "Climate Change to Save Earth".
