  1. The 3rd USISPF Leadership Summit

1.1      In the 3rd U.S - India Strategic Partnership Forum, USISPF leadership summit, the Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas & Steel has invited US companies to partner in the Atmanirbhar Bharat Campaign.

1.2       The theme of the summit is - “Navigating New Challenges”

1.3    Mr. Pradhan also said that the bilateral hydrocarbon trade between India & the US is growing and touched above US$ 9 billion during FY 2019-20 and is expected to increase further as companies are looking to source more crude oil and LNG from the US at competitive rates. 

1.4     India is also working to transform itself into a gas-based economy by increasing the share of gas from 6% to 15% in the energy mix by 2030, with an estimated investment of $60 billion lined up in the sector, developing a “One Nation, One Gas Grid.”


  1. National Tribal Research Conclave to be held on 3rd & 4th September 2020

2.1       Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda will inaugurate the two day National Tribal Research Conclave which will be held virtually on 3rd & 4th September. 

2.2       The conclave is organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs & the Indian Institute of Public Administration.

2.3       This workshop is 2nd of its kind, the first was organized in January 2020.

2.4      MoTA will come up with National Tribal Research Institute in collaboration with IIPA.

2.5      The Union Minister will also review the progress on the outcome of various projects being implemented under different partnerships and the best practices to be showcased to all stakeholders.


  1. Water Heroes Contest - 2.0

3.1       The Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched the ‘Water Heroes- Share Your Stories’ Contest from September 1, 2020, with an aim to reach out to people on the important subject of water conservation and management.

3.2       Every month (from September 2020 onwards) entries would be invited for consideration of awards. Every month a maximum of 10 entries can be considered for the awards. All selected entries will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each and a certificate.

3.3         This series of contests will end on 31 st August 2021.

4.1       Department of Science & Technology has completed 50 years of its formation and is celebrating the golden jubilee.

  1. Cabinet approves “Mission Karmayogi” NPCSCB

5.1    Cabinet has approved “Mission Karmayogi” - National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building.

5.2     NPCSCB has been carefully designed to lay the foundations for capacity building for Civil Servants so that they remain entrenched in Indian Culture and sensibilities and remain connected, with their roots, while they learn from the best institutions and practices across the world.

5.3   The Programme will be delivered by setting up an Integrated Government Online Training-iGOTKarmayogiPlatform. 

5.4      It is also proposed to set up a Capacity Building Commission, with a view to ensure a uniform approach in managing and regulating the capacity building ecosystem on a collaborative and co-sharing basis.

5.5       To cover around 46 lakh Central employees, a sum of Rs.510.86 crore will be spent over a period of 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25. 

5.6    A Public Human Resources Council comprising of select Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, eminent public HR practitioners, thinkers, global thought leaders, and Public Service functionaries under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Prime Minister will serve as the apex body for providing strategic direction to the task of Civil Services Reform and capacity building.


  1. 20 new disciplines are now eligible for govt, jobs under sports quota

6.1      The list of sports which qualify for appointment of meritorious sportspersons in Central Government offices has now been revised from 43 to 63 and includes indigenous and traditional sports like Mallakhamb, Tug-of-War, Roll Ball.


  1. Jeewan Raksha Padak Awards

7.1      The Hon’ble President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has awarded three Railway-Protection Force (RPF) personnel with the Jeewan Raksha Padak Awards.

7.2        One is awarded the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak and two with the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak.


  1. Govt. blocks 118 mobile apps including PUBG

8.1       The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has blocked 118 apps in the view that they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of the state, and public order.

8.2       The Ministry has taken the step under section 69A of the Information & Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009.
