  1. National Nutrition Week

1.1       National Nutrition Week is celebrated every year in India from 1st September to 7th September.

1.2       In 1982, the govt. of  India decided to held a week-long celebration of the National Nutrition Week.

1.3       National Nutrition Week 2020 theme- ‘Eat Right, Bite by Bite’.

1.4       National Nutrition Week 2019 theme - ‘Har Ghar Poshan Vyavhar’.


  1. Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee dies at 84

2.1       The former President of India & Bharat Ratna Awardee, Pranab Mukherjee died at 84, after battling from a long illness.

2.2       He was the 13th  President of India. He served as President from 2012 to 2017.

2.3       India declares one-week state mourning in his honour. In the state mourning, the flags will fly half-mast.

2.4      Bangladesh has also declared one-day state mourning in his honour.

 

  1. Defence Ministry signs deal for 6 Pinaka rocket regiments

3.1       Defence Ministry has signed a deal worth Rs. 2,580 crore with Bharat Earth Movers Ltd., Tata Power Company Ltd.,  & Larsen & Toubro for 6 Pinaka rocket regiments.

3.2       It will consist of 114 launchers with automated gun aiming and positioning system, 45 command posts, and 330 vehicles.

3.3         The regiment will likely be operational by 2024.


  1. Railways solarised 960 stations across the country

4.1       Union Railways Minister, Piyush Goyal has said that 960 stations have so far solarised and railways has moved closer to become,e a Net Zero Carbon Emission Railway by 2030.

4.2       The railways has also placed orders for solar rooftops for 550 stations which are under execution.

5.1     Mackenzie Scott, an American novelist, venture philanthropist becomes the world’s richest woman with $66.4 bn.

     5.2         She is the ex-wife of the world’s richest man Jeff Bezos (Amazon Founder).


  1. Mustafa Adib, the new PM of Lebanon

6.1       Mustafa Adib has named as the new PM of Lebanon.

6.2       He has been the country’s envoy to Germany.

6.3       New PM is named because the previous govt. had quit earlier this month in the wake of the explosion at Beirut port.


  1. LIC completed its 64 years of formation

7.1      Life Insurance Corporation of India has completed 64 years of its formation, as it was founded in 1956.

7.2        Chairperson- M R Kumar

7.3        Headquarters - Mumbai


  1. Rajeev Kumar appointed as the new Election Commissioner

8.1       Rajeev Kumar is appointed as the new Election Commissioner.

8.2       He joins the commission with Sunil Arora as the Chief Election Commissioner & Sushil Chandra as the Election Commissioner.

8.3       He was a 1984 batch IAS officer and worked in various ministries at the Centre.


  1. India aims to achieve 100 MT of coal gasification by 2030

9.1       According to the Union Coal & Mines Minister, Prahlad Joshi, India aims to achieve 100 million toned of coal gasification by 2030.

9.2        The investments will be worth over Rs. 4 lakh crores.


  1. ARCI Scientists develops super-hydrophobic functional surfaces to repel water

10.1       Scientists from the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Department of Science & Technology, GoI, have brought out a single-step method to develop super-hydrophobic functional surfaces that have the ability to repel water.

10.2     Such surfaces do not allow water to cling long enough to evaporate and leave behind residue.


  1. Japan commits to give a loan of Rs. 3,500 (Approx) to fight COVID-19 in India

11.1       The Govt. of Japan has committed Official Development Assistance loan of an amount of JPY50 billion which is approximately Rs. 3,500 crore.

11.2        The amount will be given for the COVID-19 Crisis Emergency Response Support.
