  1. India’s 1st regional voter’s awareness centre to come up in Jaipur: EC

1.1       Election Commission (EC) will set up India’s first regional voter’s awareness centre in Jaipur under its Systematic Voter’s Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

1.2       It will cater to four states Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab & Madhya Pradesh.


  1. Pune Institute makes room freshner to curb Covid-19 spread.

2.1       Pune’s Defence Institute of Advanced Technology has made a herbal immunity -boosting room freshner to contain COVID-19 spread.


  1. UN says COVID-19 will push 4.7 crore more women, girls, into extreme poverty by 2021

3.1       According to UN Women & UN Development Programme data, the COVID-19 pandemic will disproportionately affect women and will push 4.7 crore more women and girls into extreme poverty by 2021.

3.2       The total number will increase to 43.5 crore and this number may not revert to pre-pandemic levels until 2030. 


  1. India ranks 48 on Global Innovation Index 2020

4.1       India has ranked 48 on the Global Innovation Index 2020, released by World Intellectual Property Organisation, Cornell University &  INSEAD Business School.

 4.2       India has become the third most innovative lower-middle-income economy in the world.

4.3        The high-income countries Switzerland, Sweden, US, UK & Netherlands lead this year’s ranking.


  1. World’s largest solar tree installed in West Bengal

5.1        World’s largest solar tree, developed by the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute has installed at CSIR-CMERI Residential Colony in West Bengal’s Durgapur.

5.2       The capacity of the solar tree is above 11.5 kWp and it can generate 12,000-14,000 units of clean power annually.

5.3       There are 35 solar panels in each tree with a capacity of 330 wp each.


  1. Indian Oil chartered tanker carrying tonnes of oil catches fire off Sri Lanka

6.1      An Indian Oil Chartered tanker carrying 270k tonnes of oil caught fire off the east coast of Sri Lanka.

6.2       The Indian Coast Guard diverted its ships Shaurya, Sarang, Samudra Pahredar & Dornier Aircraft for fire fighting. Sri Lankan navy also joined the operations.

6.3       The name of the carrier is, the New Diamond and it was heading to the port of Paradip.


  1. Scientists observe the biggest black hole collision till date

7.1      The two black holes were 85 times & 66 times the mass of the Sun and collided to form a black hole 142 times bigger than the Sun.

7.2    Scientists have observed the collision through the Advanced LIGO & Advanced Virgo observatories.


  1. Govt. approves Railway Board restructuring

8.1       The govt. has approved the constitution of a restructured railway board and trimmed the number of members in the board from eight to five.

8.2       The current Chairman, Vinod Kumar Yadav is appointed as the CEO of the board.


  1. Former Cricketer, Shekhar Gawli dies

9.1       Former Ranji cricketer of Maharashtra, Shekhar Gawli passed away after falling in a 250 foot deep gorge in Maharashtra’s Nashik district.


10 Indian Astronomers discovered the farthest Star Galaxy

10.1       The Star Galaxy is estimated to be located 9.3 billion light-years away from the Earth.
