World Braille Day
·        World Braille Day is celebrated every year on Jan.4 on the birth anniversary of Braille inventor, Louis Braille.
·        The day is celebrated to raise awareness about issues facing the blind and the importance of continuing to produce works in Braille.
·        Braille is a script that helps blind & visually impaired people to read & write.

Cyclone Pabuk approaches the Andaman Islands
·        A ‘yellow’ alert has sounded for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as the cyclone Pabuk is approaching.
·        The sea conditions will be very rough till January 7.

Science Communicator’s Meet is inaugurated at the Indian Science Congress
·          The Union Minister for Law & Justice & Electronics & Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad has inaugurated the Science Communicator’s Meet in the ongoing Indian Science Congress 2019.
·         He also informed that India’s ranking in global innovation index in 2017 is 60th which was 81st in 2015.
·         India is 6th in scientific publications & 10th in the patent filing.
·         India is 3rd most attractive investment destination for technology transactions.

7 books published, released in the World Book Fair
·        7 books which are published by Publication of Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, are released in the World Book Fair which is being organized at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from 5th to 13th Jan.
·        The name of the books are as follows-

Minister for Women  & Child Development, confers National Awards to Anganwadi Workers
·        Minister for Women & Child Development, Maneka Gandhi has conferred National Awards to 97 Anganwadi workers for their exceptional achievements in 2017-18.
·        The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation.

National Entrepreneurship Awards 2018 were presented on 4 Jan 2019
·         The National Entrepreneurship Awards 2018 which are given to recognizing and honoring outstanding young generation entrepreneurs and also to those who have contributed immensely in building entrepreneurship ecosystem.
·         There was a total of 43 awards were presented among which 39 were for young entrepreneurs in different sectors and 4 for Entrepreneurship Ecosystem builders.
·         The awards were presented by the Minister of Commerce & Industry & Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu & the Minister of State for Skill Development, Ananthkumar Hegde.

Indian Panorama Film Festival was inaugurated in New Delhi
·         Indian Panorama Film Festival, which is organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, was inaugurated by the Secretary of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Amit Khare on 4 Jan. 2019, at New Delhi.
·         The festival will last till 13 January 2019 in which 26 feature films & 21 non-feature films will be screened.
