UAE’s Crown Prince, on a visit of Pakistan

·        UAE’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan is on a visit of Pakistan to meet Pakistan’s, P.M Imran Khan.

·        The crown Prince may announce financial assistance of USD 6.2 billion to Pakistan, as it was discussed between the two countries last week.

·        Notably, Pakistan is suffering from economic crisis and is seeking help from countries with whom it has friendly relations.

·        Last year, in August Pakistan had visited Abu Dhabi twice to seek financial assistance.

Malaysia’s King, Sultan Muhammed V has abdicated

·        Malaysia’s king Sultan Muhammed V has renounced the throne as confirmed by royal officials on  January 6.

·        He becomes the first king of the country to abdicate since it gained independence in 1957.

·        Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy, where rulers change in every 5 years.

·        His reign started from December 2016 and ended to January 2019.

Railways to check passengers, just like at airports

·         Railways are soon going to seal stations to check passengers just like at airports as announced by the director general of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Arun Kumar.

·         Therefore, passengers will have to reach 20 min. before departure.

·         The access control system will put in various sensitive and large railway stations across the country.

Former International Carrom Player Prakash Rele died

·        Former International Carrom player Prakash Rele has passed away on 2 January 2019 due to cardiac arrest.

·        He was 78.

·        He had represented India against Sri Lanka in a test series in 1960.

·        He was the Joint Secretary of the Maharashtra Carrom Association and played a vital role in redrafting the laws of carom.

National Table Tennis Championship began in Cuttack

·         The 80^th National Table Tennis Championship has begun in Cuttack.

·         550 players, 35 teams will be participating.

·         The championship is always hosted by the Odissa State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) in every 18 years.
