International Day of Persons with Disabilities
·       International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed on 3rd December every year.
·      The aim to observe this day is to promote the rights & well being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society & development and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic & cultural life.
·      The 2018 theme of this day is – ‘ Empowering Persons with Disabilities & Ensuring Inclusiveness & Equality’.

Centre has released Rs. 3200 crore for the North Eastern States in the Last 4 years
·       Union Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep S. Puri has informed that Rs. 3200 crore has been released for the North Eastern States in last 4 years for construction of more than 2.3 lakh houses which have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ( PMAY-Urban) 
·       Out of these, 1.16 lakh houses have already been grounded for construction.
·      Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a centrally sponsored initiative to build affordable houses for poor people both in urban (PMAY- Urban) & rural area (PMAY- Gramin) and it was started in 2015.
·       The initiative was formerly known as Indira Awas Yojana.

‘NITI Forum for North East’ will hold meeting on 4 December in Guwahati
·     ‘NITI Forum for North East’ will hold its second meeting in Guwahati on 4December, which will be chaired by Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Dr. Rajiv Kumar & Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region ( DoNER), Jitendra Singh.
·     ‘NITI Forum for North East’ was constituted in Feb 2018 to periodically review the development status in the North Eastern Region.
·      The Secretary, North East Council (NEC) is the member secretary of the forum.
·      The first meeting of the forum was held in April 2018 in Agartala.

Ex Cope India, Bilateral Joint Exercise to commence on 3rd December 2018
·     Ex Cope India is the series of Bilateral Joint Exercise between Indian Air Force & US Air Force which will be conducted in India on 3rd December 2018.
·      This is the 4th edition of this series of exercise.
·   The aim is to provide operational exposure and undertake mutual exchange of best practices towards enhancing operational capability.

Birth Anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad
·      3rd December is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the former President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
·       He was born on 3rd December 1884
·       He was the first President of India after Independence from 1952 to 1962.
·       He received Bharat Ratna in 1962.

Qatar will quit OPEC in 2019
·     Qatar’s energy minister Saad-al-kaabi has announced at Doha Press Conference that Qatar will quit the OPEC in January 2019
·         OPEC ( Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries )

A tribute to Bhopal Gas Tragedy survivors & victims
·    On the night of 2nd December to 3rd December, a massive tragedy happened in Bhopal in 1984 where a very poisonous gas methyl- isocyanate was leaked from the pesticide plant of Union Carbide India Limited.
·     The day is marked as a tribute to thousands of people who were killed and thousands of them who were survived

World Bank has doubled the fund to tackle climate change
·      World Bank has doubled the fund from $100 billion to $ 200 billion for climate action investment in 2021- 25.
·        The move has taken ahead of the UN climate summit whose is being held in Poland.
·        World Bank-

Railways will set up solar power plants in its vacant land
·    The Indian Railways is planning to set up solar power plants in its vacant land for up to 30 GW capacity.
·       In the first phase of the initiative 10 GW power will be generated.
·       This will help railways to lower its energy bill of around Rs. 30,000 crores.

·   Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has launched ‘PAiSA- Portal for Affordable Credit & Interest.

India- UAE Joint Commission Meeting
·     The 12th session of India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting for Economic & Technical Cooperation will be held from Dec. 3-4 in Abu Dhabi.
·   The meeting will be co-chaired by the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj with her UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyen.
·   During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will also inaugurate a Mahatma Gandhi-Sheikh Zayed Digital Museum in Abu Dhabi.
