India met EU on the sidelines of the G-20 summit

  •  India has met European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker & German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of G-20 summit held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • To strengthen India-EU relations which includes joint efforts to counter terrorism, extremism, & radicalization.
  • Notably, India & EU had met earlier in November during India-EU annual counter terrorism and political dialogue held in Brussels

India, Russia, China held a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of G-20 summit

  • India, Russia & China has held a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit to discuss cooperation in various areas.
  • This is the 2nd trilateral meeting of these three countries after 12 years.
  • Notably, India is going to host the G-20 summit in 2022 which will be the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

  •  Centre has given Rs. 353 crore to Tamil Nadu for Gaja relief measures.
  • Tamil Nadu has sought Rs. 15000 crore for carrying out long-term rehabilitation programme and 1500 for speeding up relief and restoration works.
  • Gaja cyclone had arrived in Tamil Nadu on 16 Nov. 2018 and caused massive destruction to the coastal region of Tamil Nadu and some parts of Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka.

Explosion took place inside an express train in Assam

  • 11 people injured due to an explosion took place inside one of the coaches of an express train Harisanga in Assam’s Udalguri.
  • The express train was Rangia- Dekargaon Intercity express train.\

24th meeting of Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC

  • The 24th meeting of Conference of Parties (COP-24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held at Katowice, Poland, which will be starting from 2nd December to 14th December 2018. 
  • It is expected to finalize guidelines for implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2016.
  • India will also create a pavilion on the sidelines of COP-24 to create awareness about India’s positive climate actions in various sectors of the economy.
  • The theme of India’s this year pavilion is – ‘ One World One Sun One Grid’.
