Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as the new RBI Governor
·         Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as the new RBI Governor after the resignation of Urjit Patel.
·         Das is the 25th governor of RBI
·         Das was earlier the member of 15th Finance Commission of India.

Opening Ceremony of Sino-India Joint Exercise held on 11th December
·   Opening Ceremony of 7th Sino- India Joint Exercise Hand-in-Hand was held on 11th December 2018 at Chengdu, China.
·     The Exercise is scheduled from 10th December 2018 to 23rd December 2018.
·     The aim is to build & promote close relations between armies of both the countries and to enhance the ability of the joint exercise commander to take military contingents of both nations under command.
·     This will include both indoor & outdoor training activities.

4th Partner’s Forum will inaugurate on 12th December 2018
·      P.M Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 4th Partner’s forum on 12th December 2018 at New Delhi.
·    Govt. in association with the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) will host a two-day international conference on 12th & 13th December 2018.
·      The event will have around 1500 participants from across 85 countries.
·       This forum is the 4th in the series of global high-level multi-country, multi-stakeholder events that aimed at sustaining global momentum for issues related to the health of women, children & adolescents.
·     This is the second time India is hosting the Partner’s forum. The first time was held in 2010 at New Delhi.

President Ram Nath Kovind is on three days visit to Myanmar
·         President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has commenced three days state visit to Myanmar.
·         During this, he has paid visit to the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw.
·         The two countries have also signed two agreements-
Ø  Agreement between the National Judicial Academy of India & the Office of the Union Chief Justice of Myanmar for training & capacity building of judges & judicial officers in Myanmar.
Ø  Agreement for cooperation in Science & Technology between the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, India & the Department of Research & Innovation, Ministry of Education, Myanmar.
·         Notably, India is building 250 houses for Myanmar’s Rakhine province as a part of the developmental project and out of these 50 has handed over to the Myanmar authorities on 11th December 2018.
·         Myanmar will also grant visa-on-arrival to the Indian Tourists.

Govt. of India & ADB has signed loan agreement to develop tourism in Tamil Nadu
·        The Govt. of India & Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed $ 31million loan agreement to build up tourism and to boost jobs in Tamil Nadu.

Online Portal “ENSURE” has been launched by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare
·     The Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare has launched an online portal “ENSURE”- National Livestock Mission-EDEG
·    The portal is developed by NABARD & operated under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries.
·   The National Livestock’s Mission- Entrepreneurship Development & Employment Generation (EDEG), is a subsidy which is paid for activities relating to poultry, small ruminants, pigs etc, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) which goes directly to the beneficiary’s account.
·    The portal “ENSURE” will make the information related to the beneficiary and the processing of application readily available.

Kala Utsav National Competiton will be inaugurated at New Delhi
·     Kala Utsav National Competition which is an initiative to promote arts in education by nurturing & showcasing the artistic talents of school students & children with special needs will be inaugurated on 12th December 2018 at Bal Bhavan New Delhi by the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar.

Surjit Bhalla has resigned as a part-time member of Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister
·     ·        Noted economist Surjit Bhalla has resigned as a part-time member of Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister.
·        He has given his resignation with effect from 1st December 2018.

U.N Humanitarian Chief: 20 million Yemenis are hungry and 250000 faces catastrophe
·     The U.N Humanitarian Chief, Mark Lowcock has said that 20 million Yemen people are hungry which comprise 70% of the population and 250000 faces catastrophe.
·       The statement has made after Lowcock had made the visit to the war-torn country of Yemen.

Israel has become the member of FATF
·         Israel has become a member of the Financial Action Task Force on 10 December 2018.
