Goa Liberation Day
·     Goa Liberation Day is celebrated in India every year on 19th December.

ISRO successfully launched GSAT-7A
·     On 19th December 2018, ISRO has launched GSAT-7A which was successfully placed in the orbit GSLV-F11.
·     It was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) Sriharikota, T.N.
·   It is expected to provide aircraft-to-aircraft communication and is exclusively for the Indian Air Force.

Facebook gave access of user’s personal data to tech giants
·       According to the New York Times, Facebook was giving access of user’s private messages to tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon etc which was way beyond what it claimed.
·      In March 2018 Facebook revealed that British political consulting firm, Cambridge Analytica was improperly using the personal data of up to 87 million Facebook users.

Lok Sabha passed Surrogacy Regulation Bill
·    During the 9th day of the winter session of Parliament, Lok Sabha passed the Surrogacy Regulation Bill.
·      The Bill bans commercial surrogacy.

EU agreed to ban Single-use plastics
·      European Union has agreed to ban 10 single-use plastics like straw, Polystyrene cups etc. by 2021.

Mizoram has decided to ban liquor during Christmas
·    The newly elected Mizo National Front (MNF) Party has decided to ban the sale of liquor during Christmas Festivities.
·      The govt. has decided to celebrate dry Christmas as the ban will impose from 21 December 2018 to 14 Jan. 2019.
·       Notably, Mizoram is Christian majority state.

MWCD drafts Child Protection Policy
·    Ministry of Women & Child Development has placed the draft of Child Protection Policy for its review from stakeholder until Jan. 4 2019.
·      The draft contains the code of conduct for employees of all organizations and institutions.
·      The draft is made in the direction of the Supreme Court after the Muzaffarpur Shelter Abuse case.

Vajpayee’s Portrait will be installed in Parliament
·     Former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s portrait will be installed at the historic Central Hall of the Parliament.
·      It may install on 25th December 2018, which will be celebrated as Vajpayee’s birth anniversary and also Good Governance day.

J&K will come under President’s rule from midnight
·       President rule will be imposed upon Jammu & Kashmir from mid-night as 6 months government rule will be expired in the mid-night.
·      Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has recommended for President’s rule in the state and the move is approved by the Cabinet & signed by the President Ram Nath Kovind.

Ministry of Rural Development signed MoU with Maruti Suzuki to train rural youth for skill development
·     Ministry of Rural Development has signed a MoU with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. For training of Rural youth for skill development under Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana.
·      It will provide training to a minimum of 5000 candidates with assured placement in two years.

P.M releases “Timeless Laxman”
·        The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released “Timeless Laxman”.
·         It’s a book written on R.K Laxman’s cartoon.
