International Human Solidarity Day
·     International Human Solidarity Day is celebrated annually on 20 December to celebrate unity in diversity.

Loksabha passed two bills on the eighth day of the winter session
·     On 20 December 2018, the eighth day of Parliament’s winter session, loksabha could manage to pass Consumer Protection Bill 2018 & the National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities (Amendment) Bill 2018.
·      The Consumer Protection bill 2018 needs Rajya Sabha’s clearance whereas the National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities (Amendment) Bill 2018 needs President’s assent only.

Govt. is unlikely to make separate time zones for north-eastern states
·      Govt. has rejected the request to make separate time zones for north-eastern states.
·      The request was brought by the north-eastern states & especially by the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu in 2017.
·       In response to such requests, it is rejected by the Govt. on the basis of strategic reasons.

e-library of rare manuscripts launched in Pune
·      e-library of rare manuscripts is launched by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) in Pune.
·       BORI is one of South Asia’s largest collection of rare manuscripts.

Pakistani Activist has won UN Human Rights Prize for 2018
·        Late Pakistani Activist Asma Jahangir has won the prestigious UN Human Rights Prize for 2018.
·        Her daughter Munizae Jahangir received the award on behalf of her mother.
·        Asma Jahangir was a noted Pakistani lawyer and human rights, activist.

Ancient Buddhist sculpture unearthed in the Old Guntur
·        3rd century Buddhist sculpture of ‘Naga Muchalinda’is unearthed from the Agesthyeshwar temple in the Old Guntur.
·      The sculpture is made up of limestone & throws light on the Naga dynasty & the Buddhist tradition that was prevailed in the region.

40 workers to be awarded the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards 2017
·    The Prime Minister’s Shram Award 2017 will be awarded to 40 workers employed in the Departmental undertakings & Public Sector Undertakings of the Central & State Govt., and Private sector units employing 500 or more workers.
·         Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has recommended for President’s rule in the state and the move is approved by the Cabinet & signed by the President Ram Nath Kovind.
