President of India inaugurates International Arya Mahasammelan 2018
President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the International Arya Mahasammelan- 2018 on 25th Oct. 2018. Swami Dayanand Saraswati has created Arya Samaj and had worked for the eradication of discrimination in society on the basis of caste, creed, and sect.
Notably, the 150th anniversary of Arya Samaj will be celebrated in 2025 and the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati in 2024.

Malayalam author Benyamin’s ‘Jasmin Days’ has won the inaugural JCB Prize for literature, which explores the lives of South Asian’s in the Middle East. The book is originally written in Malayalam by Benyamin and translated by Shahnaz Habib. The book was shortlisted among the four other books namely-
1.      ‘Half the night is gone’ by Amitabha Bagchi
2.      ‘All the lives we never lived’ by Anuradha Roy
3.      ‘Latitudes of longing’ by Shubangi Swarup
4.      ‘Poonachi’ by Perumal Murugan
Benyamin has made the debut with ‘Aadujeevitham’ which also won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award.
