& Myanmar has signed MoU on operationalisation of Sittwe Port
MoU has signed between India &
Myanmar for the appointment of the private operator of the Sittwe port, which
will connect the India’s landlocked North-East region to the Bay of Bengal
through Mizoram. The MoU was signed by Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale and
Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Sui
Kyi and Union Minister of Transport & Communication U Thant Sin Maung in
Nay Pyi Taw.

Services has been the only Indian company among the top 10 firms which will get
the foreign labour certification for the H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2018.
The H-1B visas
are the most sought among the IT professionals in India because the visa allows
employers to temporary employ foreign workers in the U.S on a non-immigrant

Nobel
Laureate, Shimomura passed away
Nobel chemistry
laureate, Osamu Shimomura passed away at 90 on Oct.19 2018. He won the 2008
Nobel prize for the discovery and development of jelly fish protein that later
contributed to the cancer studies. This Nobel prize was shared by two American
scientists.

The Lal Bahadur
Shastri National Award for Excellence has been given to Shri. Fali S Nariman.
This was the 19th Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence
and was given by Vice President Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu.

China meeting on bilateral cooperation
The first
India-China high level meeting on Bilateral Security Cooperation was held in 22nd
Oct. in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh
and Mr. Zhao Kezhi, State Counsellor and Minister of Public Security of the
People’s Republic of China.
In the meeting various issues were discussed
like Bilateral counter-terrorrism cooperation, cooperation in the area of
security. An agreement of security cooperation was also signed between the two
countries.

Diwali-Swasth Diwali
Ministry of
Environment has launched a campaign named ‘ Harit Diwali- Swasth Diwali’ to
reduce air pollution especially in the Northern parts of the country as it is
attributed to dust, burning of garbage, crops and prevailing climatic
conditions. This air pollution has serious impact upon the health of children,
aged people and people suffering from respiratory diseases. As we all know
diwali is a festival of burning cracker which emits smoke on combustion of
chemicals along with sound. Apart from its large number of waste also generates
after bursting of crackers. Therefore to reduce the above adverse impacts the
campaign has initiated.

India has inaugurated Vishwashanti Ahimsa Sammelan at Manga tungi, Nasik,
Maharashtra. The event is being organized by the Bhagwan Shri Rishabh Dev 108

The Ministry of
Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with the Ministry of Women &
Child Development has organized a one day National Workshop for Orientation of
District officials of Aspirational Districts on health & nutrition. Notably 117 districts comes under the
Aspirational districts with an aim to quickly and effectively transform them.
